Healing from Purity Culture Therapy Group
What’s this group about?
Healing from Purity Culture is an 8-week virtual therapy group designed specifically for women and LGBTQIA+ individuals who have been impacted by purity culture and religious trauma. This safe and supportive space is dedicated to exploring and processing the effects of purity culture on your life and well-being.
Purity culture, deeply ingrained in religious teachings, can have profound and lasting negative impacts on individuals' lives. It often instills shame, guilt, and fear surrounding sexuality, relationships, and self-worth. Many of us who have grown up in purity culture may have experienced anxiety, low self-esteem, and difficulties forming authentic connections as a result of these teachings.
In this group, we will explore how purity culture has shaped our beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors, and how it has contributed to religious trauma. Through verbal processing, reflective activities, and embodied practices, you'll have the opportunity to unpack these experiences in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
We'll also explore the ways in which unlearning purity culture teachings can positively improve your life. By challenging internalized shame and guilt, individuals often experience increased self-acceptance, empowerment, and emotional well-being. Healing from purity culture can lead to healthier relationships, enhanced body positivity, and a deeper sense of personal authenticity.
It's important to recognize that unlearning purity culture teachings is not only about addressing past traumas, but also about reclaiming autonomy over your beliefs, desires, and choices. By challenging harmful narratives and embracing your true self, you can cultivate a life that reflects authenticity, joy, and fulfillment.
Whether you're seeking validation, healing, or connection, we invite you to join us on this journey toward liberation and empowerment. You are not alone, and your experiences matter.
